Authors on the web.

Reading group had some good tips for book groups though there have been no updates since 2008. It also has some good recommendations which might come in handy. Also had some recommendations for teen book groups which I printed off to have a look at. So this could come in verey handy :)

Authors on the web was alright but kind of perferred the layout off the 1st one as you'd need to know

What was missing from it was a search box incase you are looking for something in particular.

My final thoughts

Even though I enjoyed the Geneology one and creating my cats an online family tree on Geni and My ancestry and I enjoyed watching funny videos on Stubleupon...I didn't like having to use sites which you have to join up with. I found this most frustrating. I'm also not a person who enjoys posting comments...as it tis not something I enjoy doing, which is another reason why i'm calling it quits.

Yep like the last I moaned all the way through it...In fact my work colleagues would be more than pleased that this is the last on I intend on doing. Was glad it wasn't compulsary this time as that would have been horendo from my side. Glad though that I decided to give it one more final shot before calling it quits . I'm not one who does things cause incentives are involved. Was more looking at doing it cause there was a mentionof a book group site.

The animation one was fun too, but using animoto was like being hooked up to an internet dial up connection. It was unbearably slow.

Kinda felt rushed and like i'd run outta time towards the end...and am only just able to finish it.

Well this is my views of the course and would like to end with....

WWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!

I've finished. :)

Week 5: Socializing

Had a look at reddit as I didn't find it visually appealing. However as it was the easier on to join I joined up with it. It looks more like an online chat room rather than a book discussion one ..so was a bit disappoint in this aspect of it.

On reddit I came across an article titled 'Martha Stewarts Dog died'

It was reported that Martha Stewarts Chow named Ghengis died in a freak accident when a propane delivery man whas filling up a tank at the kennel. He tried to save as many of the dogs as he could, but sixteen dogs, Ghengis included, died. How the freak incident occured has yet to be released. It also said that the sad news was that Ghengis was 'the only male chow in the litter of Chow pups bore by his mother Sahara.'

I also had a look at stumble upon. This was visually more appealing. It reminded me of a mixture of You Tube and Google combined as one. S3earching through my You tube thoughts were correct as some of the video clips I had a look through were you tube links. Came across a video link for 'hillarious animals' and had a look at the acccociated clips. One was transcribed in another language, but it didn't really matter cos you got the gist of what was going on through the pictures. I had a good laugh while watching these videos on this site, as there were other associated links to cruise through too.

On this site you could rate the clipps , whilst on redditt you could leave comments about articles viewed if you wish.

Why Animoto when you can also go animate :)

I had ago at uploading slides on Animoto. However it took a long time for it to install slides and it almost seemed like the screen had frozen. Had fun with it though.

I enjoyed go animate...though I got a bit frustrated thinking that i'd not created a clip.. and found that when I tried to add in a scence ... it didn't want too.

week3 Book jetty and more...

http://www.bookjetty.com/people/nagem/books

I went and had a look at litlovers as I was interested in seeing the tips regarding the bookclubs. I was a lil' disappointed that there was no teenage stuff on it which I could have used or put into practice within the bookgroup I run.

I had more fun with bookjetty as I managed to find books that I read when I was lil' was still available. I quite liked the alphabetical and specific age group searches eg children teens and adult book searches options. However you should beable to mark these upon tying in your search and not after the search has been conducted .

Twas sad that there was no pic of the Dip the puppy book on book jetty though, as it's a gorgous bright pink and black cover . My fav part of this story is the poem that goes:' One with a pancake, One with a drum, one with a pancake stuck to his bum.' , as I've remembered from when I was about 6.

I would recommend this to customers who are looking at starting a bookgroup for children and and Bookjetty more than autors and books for those interested in seeking out book titles.

Had fun making the book lists on this one.

I asked google the question ' What is a widget' ? When it fired me back a list of 15-20 definitions I wasn't sure what was exactly required so I've probably if I've done it unintentionally not done this option.

her family tree from Geni.com

I had fun creating a family tree on both the my heritage site and the geni site. The only site however that I could find that you could embed you family tree on to another was the Geni one. I'm not sure if My Heritage had the same option, but if they did it's not easy to locate. The only part I couldn't do on the Geni site was post it to side bar, as by having this option ticked it failed to upload it due to sidebar options not being made avaible on my blogsite. I would recommend both of these sites to patrons who may be interested in creating a family tree online, but as the Geni one is a tad bit more user friendly, over the My Generation one, this one will probably get my recommendation first. All an all in which one is recommendable depends on what the user is looking for and their site preferences. I was also suprised that it accepted and allowed me to create bogis/ficticious names or in this case allowed pet names to be accepted. Also as birthdays are not mandatory it also surprised me that not until you attempt to add a creators birthday that may be under 13 that it tells you that the creator has to be over 13 years of age, which by then it too late as one may have already been created. Now my cuurent cats and the ol' dog, that I use to have, now have the beginnings of an online family tree which Coolioiglesias and my cats say is just puuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrffffffffeect:)
